Police Commissionerate Expected To Curb Crime

Police Commissionerate

Coordination among inter-state police will be improved soon as the police department has been upgraded here. It is hoped that law and order situation will be improved by focusing inter-state dacoit gangs. For instance, police services will be strengthened here as it shares borders with Maharashtra state. Dacoit gangs from Maharashtra often visit bordering districts in Telangana state and commit offences. Particularly, property offences are on the rise.

Due to various reasons, police higher-ups were unable to maintain regular contacts with their counterparts in neighbouring districts.

In this context. the bifurcation of Nizamabad district has led to the setting up of district police office newly formed at Kamareddy district and Nizamabad was upgraded with police commissionerate.

Senior IPS officer Karthikeya has been posted as first commissioner of police in Nizamabad, and 2012-batch IPS officer N. Swetha has been posted as SP for Kamareddy.

It is believed that more deputy police commissioners, assistant police commissioners will be appointed in Nizamabad district. Kamareddy, too, will get more DSPs, circle inspectors, sub inspectors.

As a result, police higher-ups will concentrate on grave crimes and maintain good rapport with neighbouring district and state police officials.

Earlier Superintendents of Police of Nizamabad, Adilabad and Medak districts used to hold review meetings with police officials of Nanded district of Maharashtra and Bidar district of Karnataka. For various reasons, these inter-state meetings were not being held regularly. It is believed that the commissionerate will boost policing in inter-state border districts.
