Direct Sale Begins At Nizamabad Agri Yard

For the first time, farmers have been freed from the clutches of middlemen and private moneylenders in Nizamabad agriculture market yard. The district administration has initiated direct sale of agricultural produce through government agencies. Farmers lined up to sell their crops at the market yard without middlemen and commission agents. Prices of agricultural produce in other major market yards were displayed in Nizamabad market yard. Officials assured to pay the amount for their produce 48 hours.

District collector Yogita Rana reacted positively on problems being faced by farmers and initiated direct sale of agriculture produces. Marketing and agriculture department officials camped at the market yard and guided farmers to sell their produce at fair price. The handling charges were also exempted during the transactions. Speaking to this correspondent, Gopari Gangadhar, a farmer of Gupanpally Shivar in Nizamabad mandal said that he is benefited by around R10 000 through direct sale. "We dried up paddy in the market yard and got R1,510 per quintal paddy," he said.
