Great Demand For Indur Fish

Fish and prawns are being exported to foreign countries and other major cities in the country from Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. Different varieties of fish and prawns are cultivated in two districts for the last few months.

Fish and prawns have been cultivated on a large scale in Sriramsagar, Nizamsagar, Ramadugu projects and other water bodies. Contractors from Andhra Pradesh camped in the district and are exporting fish and prawns to various parts of the country.

In the backdrop of state government's policy decision to develop the fisheries on a grand scale, the fishermen are hopeful that their lives will be changed in near future. Hundreds of fishermen families eke out a living from fishing in both districts.

In view of severe drought conditions for the fishermen families migrated to nearby towns and cities in search of livelihood. These families returned to their native places after good rain fall in the last season.

Many varieties of fish and prawns have been cultivated in water bodies. Expert catch fish in the early hours and export it before the sun rise. Due to its taste and quality, the traders from Kolkata, Nagpur, Hyderabad and other cities prefer to purchase fish and prawns from Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. Speaking to this correspondent, a retailer of fish sales K Ramulu said that demand for fish from the district is increasing.
